How do you follow blog comments?

Friday, February 13, 2009

I follow most of the blogs I read by using an RSS aggregator of some sort.  Typically I just sign up for the blog posts, and then I check the blog's website occasionally if I want to see the comments.  But then I often miss out when a good conversation starts up.

For some blogs I sign up for the comments feed, but then I've got feeds in one place, posts in the other, and the comments aren't nicely grouped with the original post, in Google reader you can't sort by title (as far as I can see), etc.  Guess I just want threading for my rss posts and comments.

Help me out here.  How do you follow you blog comments?

If you have a WordPress account, you can follow the comments you've made on WordPress blogs at a place at your dashboard.

Apart from that, I have a feeling that the larger problem is ...unsolved :)

So do you what I do and just check back with blogs whose comments you're interested in following? Or do you subscribe to comments feeds?

Do you find following comments annoying?

More or less yes (for example, for this conversation, I only now checked for the second time ^_^). It's only if I'm really motivated about some topic that I subscribe to its comments' RSS, only to drop it when the discussion dies down.

guys, keep me updated once you've found a solution to this very important problem.
I guess for now it's just best, if blog authors synthesize the most interesting discussions into a new post. (As you have already done with another recent post...)
